< PreviousFrom the EditorThe toughest thing about launching Coast Monthly’s first Bachelor Issue was trying to narrow down the list of men after receiving many strong nominations. It turns out, good men aren’t so hard to find, at least not on the upper Texas Coast. After some very tough decisions, we finally culled the list down to 13 eligible bachelors who you’ll meet in these pages. After meeting the men at photo shoots and hearing their answers to our questions, I was certain we made excellent choices. They all have dif-ferent professions, backgrounds and styles. They work hard, have ambi-tions and expect their potential mates to also have that drive. But what struck me the most was the absence of egos. The men were modest and, most importantly, true Texas gentle-men. What they sought in potential mates was more about character than superficial good looks. How can you meet them, you ask? Many of the men will make their first official appearance and sign copies of Coast Monthly at the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce’s True Texas GenTlemenspecial ThanksWhen Coast Monthly sought elegant, masculine backdrops against which to photograph our bachelors, we turned to a pair of iconic downtown island ven-ues — the nightclub 21 and the neighboring havana alley cigar shop & lounge. We’d like to extend our warmest thanks to 21 owner Denise Vargas and family for their hospitality in opening the 2102 Postoffice St. venue early on a Saturday and for all the help the staff there gave to our effort. Visit www. galveston.com/21/ for information. We also can’t adequately thank tobacconist charlie head and family for graciously allowing use of Havana Alley Cigar Shop & Lounge, 415 21st St., for the cover locale and as the setting for some of the inside photographs. Visit www. havanalley.com for information.– Laura ElderWomen’s Conference on April 17 at Moody Gardens Convention Center on the island. Visit www.galvestonchamber.com/womens-conference for details. We hope you enjoy the Bachelor Issue. This month, you’ll also find fascinat-ing features on a family who lives on a yacht and a devoted kayaker who has become a fixture on Galveston Bay. We’ll have those stories and more.laura elDerCoast Monthly Editor10 cOasTmOnThlY.cOm / APRIL 2015AEGIS CREDIT SERVICESIS A POOR CREDIT SCORE CRUSHING YOUR DREAMS?WE CANFIX THAT.Bankruptcy Charge-Off CollectionsForeclosures Inquiries JudgmentsLate Payments RepossessionsStudent Loans Tax LiensFICO--900aegiscredit.comTEXAS PROPERTIES SUE JOHNSON, GRI409.682.9050 • sue@heritagetexas.com • SueJohnsonGalveston.comHonored 4 Times by theHouston Business JournalHonored by H Magazine2013 & 2014Heritage Texas PropertiesTop ProducerReal Trends 2014 Top 250 Real Estate Professional for Closed TransactionsCurrently ranked among the Top 3 Producers on Galveston Island for Dollar Volume & Number of Closed Transactions!NEW LISTING!ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900409.737.4000 | 13655 FM 3005, Suite B (Physical) | 4121 Pirates Beach (Mailing) | Galveston, Texas 77554 | heritagetexas.comISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900ISLA DELA SOL3916 BRIDGE HARBOR | $569,900Pirates Beach - $675,0004022 Mutiny CourtPirates Beach - $249,9003915 Pirates Beach CirclePirates Beach - $299,00013921 Pirates Beach Blvd.Pirates Beach - $329,0004106 Pirates Alley CourtIsla del Sol - $569,0003916 Bridge Harbor DriveIndian Beach - $ 389,90018711 Shaman DriveJamaica Beach - $279,0004308 Spanish Main Blvd.Isla del Sol - $335,0004217 Isla del Sol DriveGalveston Outlots - $210,0001823 27th StreetPirates Beach - $319,50013913 Pirates Beach Blvd.Sea Isle - $210,00021600 Zachary DrivePirates Cove - $329,90013919 Grambo Blvd.Sea Isle - $314,90022012 San Luis PassNEW LISTING!11610 BeachsideBeachside Village - $1,175,000Galveston Outlots - $89,5001510 KempnerPirates Cove - $579,00013819 Cutlass LaneSea Isle - $329,00022018 San Luis Pass RoadFeedback“Surfer Girl”The Beach Boys55“MarGaritaville”Jimmy BuffeTT4“(SittinG On) the DOck Of the Bay”oTis Redding3“kOkOMO”The Beach Boys3“Wipe Out”The suRfaRis3“califOrnia GirlS”The Beach Boys and david Lee RoTh2“GalveStOn”gLen campBeLL2“SOMeWhere in the Sun”Kenny chesney“unDer the BOarDWalk”The dRifTeRs2“WhO’S the BlOnDe StranGer”Jimmy BuffeTT“fOr the lOve Of GalveStOn”shaRis Roe and Tony sassi“SuMMer Breeze”seaLs and cRofTs “When the Sun GOeS DOWn”Kenny chesney“tWO pina cOlaDaS”gaRTh BRooKs“tequila”The champs“catch a Wave”The Beach Boys“cheeSeBurGer in paraDiSe”Jimmy BuffeTT“caBin By the Sea”The diRTy heads“iSlanD SOnG”Zac BRownWe asked on Facebook: What’s your favorite beach tune? And we found more than a few. In fact, we found so many we couldn’t feature them all. But after tallying nominations, we culled the list to a baker’s dozen of eligible bachelors. In this inaugural Bachelor Issue, you’ll find a group of men who are smart, handsome, successful, kind, thoughtful, inter-esting and very well dressed. Some of you are probably wondering how you might meet these gentlemen. Many of these Coast Monthly bachelors will make their first official appearance at the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce’s eighth annual Women’s Conference. The bachelors will bring some of their “Texas style” to the con-ference on April 17 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center. Without further ado, meet the men of Coast Monthly.– Laura ElderThe following pages include a sampling of survey questions answered by each bachelor. For the full survey, visit CoastMonthly.com.
