< Previous100 COASTMONTHLY.COM / November 2018Seaside StyleDawn DavisStory by Sue Mayfield Geiger Photos by Chris KuhlmanDawn Davis is an international traveler, artist, photographer and collector of many things. Her rambling ranch-style home on Wild-wood Bayou in Seabrook is full of treasures from around the world.Davis grew up an Army brat and moving was a con-stant, she said.“I went to school in Germany, Switzerland and almost every state in the U.S.,” she said. She just returned from Ireland and already is plotting her next escape, she said.“There are still many places I want to visit,” she said. But when she’s at home, she and her husband, William, enjoy taking their pontoon boat out for some fishing, lei-surely motoring or just to catch a beautiful sunset, she said. Her fashion style is built around where she’ll be travel-ing next, she said.“I like things that don’t seem too American, so I lean toward boho chic, eclectic and exotic, with lots of layers and lace,” she said. Each month, Coast Monthly visits with some of the most charming people on the Texas Coast to chat about their style. Here are a few of her favorite things:1. Gourd: This is a Peruvian hand-carved, hand-painted gourd that I keep positive affirma-tions in. I like to draw one out to see how my day unfolds.2. Turtle: I collect turtles, because they are wise, ancient and live for a very long time. This guy, made of wood, is very special because of his huge size and intricate detail.3. Pendant: Aquamarine was my grand-mother’s birthstone, and I inherited a lot of her aquamarine jewelry. I was very fond of her, so I wear this a lot.4. Painting: I painted this in oils from a photo that I took when I was in Hawaii. I love to add a lot of texture so that you can see the brush strokes pop on the canvas.5. Shawl: I adore Spain and vowed I was not going to leave without getting an authentic Spanish shawl. I found this one in barcelona.6. Cockatiel: The bird, made of onyx sitting on amethyst, is from brazil. I love this because of its beauty, plus it combines my love of rocks and birds.7. Drum: This is my shaman drum that I bought in Ireland. I play it quite often and par-ticipate in a drum circle at my church.8. Dinner plate: my grandmother gave this to me. It’s a goddess on a seashell and made in Italy. I’ve traveled a lot to Italy with my daughter and love everything Italian.9. Sneakers: my daughter just sent these to me for my birthday. She wrote: “I want you to always know that you are loved.” 123456879 COASTMONTHLY.COM / November 2018 101League City • 281-332-3521 1600 West League City Pkwy.
