To lure this little blue beauty to your yard, try using a nest box to attract a mated pair, or provide a feeder offering insects such as mealworms. FuN FACT: eastern bluebirds living in the more northern and western parts of the species’ range generally lay more eggs than those in the eastern and southern regions. The arch was among seven designed for the island’s revived Mardi Gras celebration in 1986. While the others were temporary, this arch, also known as the Mardi Gras arch, has become a permanent downtown fixture. The boone Powell arch, commissioned by George and Cynthia Mitchell, known for reviving Galveston’s downtown and the city’s Mardi Gras celebration, is meant to evoke sailing ships that called on Galveston.
